TLC highly recommends your pet be current on core vaccinations prior to surgery. It is not required, but highly recommended to help avoid infectious diseases. Your pet will be in close proximity of other animals. TLC will not be responsible for complications due to pets not being vaccinated.
The State of Texas requires that all pets must be current on their rabies shots at the time of surgery. You must bring in the rabies CERTIFICATE at CHECK IN. The tag is not legal proof of rabies. *Rabies vaccines can be given the same day of surgery. Let Staff know at check in it this is needed.*
TLC does not perform surgery on high risk pets. Conditions include but are not limited to the following:
Texas Litter Control implants Datamars microchips with Lifetime Basic Registration. These chips come with lifetime enrollment and basic owner and pet information included. The pet owner contact information is free to update at no charge for the first year they own the pet. For a one-time upgrade fee of $19.95 to Datamars the pet owner can update their information for life as well as add photos, add additional contacts, use the lost pet poster builder and social media exports.
Texas Litter Control has partnered with Montgomery County to try to improve your chances of getting your pet back should he/she end up in a shelter. We have raised our prices a little to cover the rising cost of supplies and to be able to include a microchip with every surgery. Did you know that according to a study conducted by the American Veterinary Medical Association, dogs are 2.5 times more likely and cats are a whopping 21.4 times more likely to be returned to their home from a shelter if they have a registered microchip?
Microchips are not GPS devices. They are a small RFID tag implanted under the skin. When someone finds an animal and turns it into a shelter or takes it to a Veterinarian, the animal can be scanned. Microchipped animals will return an id number when scanned. This number is registered to you through FoundAnimals.org. If you move or change a phone number, you will have your own free account to make sure your information is constantly up to date.
We still recommend a collar tag with your pet's name and your phone number for the fastest way to get your pet back.
