Texas Litter Control is no longer offering the Adulticide injection Heartworm Treatment. We are offering an alternative slow kill treatment that will enable us to serve a wider variety of dogs. Most dogs should test negative for Heartworms in one year if they follow these recommendations and don't miss any monthly doses of Imidacloprid/Moxidectin (generic Advantage Multi).
How it works:
Advantage Multi suppresses reproduction of the heartworms for the full month of application. Which means it kills more microfilaria, so that they do not have the chance to grow and reproduce. The doxycycline kills bacteria that lives in the heartworms. These bacteria help the worms survive and reproduce. Heavier heartworm burdens may take longer than 10 months.
Doxycycline is an antibiotic that can be administered orally, and Advantage Multi is a common heartworm and flea preventative that is applied topically. The doxycycline is given for thirty days, twice daily and the Imidacloprid/Moxidectin (generic Advantage Multi) is given once a month as directed on the label. After one year the dog will be retested to determine if the heartworms are still present.
Limited activity is recommended but should not need strict cage rest.
This pricing includes a YEAR of Imidacloprid/Moxidectin and one month of Doxycycline.
